Q. What is a Swimming Pool Heat Pump?
Swimming Pool Heat Pumps are a super efficient way of heating a swimming pool. Heat pumps make full use of the advanced refrigeration technology to capture the heat present in the outside air and transfer it to the swimming pool water.
An environmental refrigerant gas absorbs and transfers the heat energy through a refrigerant circulation system. The refrigerant in the Swimming Pool Heat Pump circulation system consists of a coil filled with a refrigerant liquid that absorbs heat and transforms it into a gas, the excess is discharged off as cool air. This refrigerant gas is then forced through a compressor in the Heat Pump which, when condensed, intensifies the heat. This heated gas then passes through a heat exchanger where the heat from the gas is transferred to the pool water. The refrigerant in the Swimming Pool Heat Pump then turns back to a liquid state and passes back through the system.
Q. What are the Cost Benefits?
Heat Pumps are amazingly efficient with running costs that are around 20% to 25% cheaper than most alternative options such as electric heaters, gas heaters or oil heaters. Swimming Pool Heat Pumps will save you thousands!
The efficiency of a heat pump is measured by the Coefficient of performance (COP). The COP of a swimming pool heat pump ranges from 4.1 - 5 units, which means for every unit of electricity that you put into run the heat pump, you get 4.1 - 5 units of heat out!
So, 1kW of electrical energy will give you 4.2 to 5kW of heat from a Swimming Pool Heat Pump.
Q. What about Environmental Benefits?
Heat pumps can significantly improve the environmental value of any heating system compared with systems driven by primary sources such as fuel (gas, oil) and power (electricity). Heat pumps are working on a COP of 1 unit in, giving 5 units out. Other systems are barely able receive a COP of 1 unit in, 1 unit out. Therefore Swimming Pool Heat Pumps are up to 5 times or 500% more efficient than other forms of swimming pool heating.
Swimming Pool Heat Pump Key Points:
A Swimming Pool Heat Pump has the lowest running cost of all "on demand" pool heating methods and are measured using COP (coefficient of performance). For Every £1 You Spend up to £5 of heat will go into your pool.
