In Higashiyama Zoo and Botanical Gardens, Japan, three polar bears coats have turned green. The change is said to have happened due to high temperatures and algae growth in the pool that they occupy.
They underwent their colour change after high temperatures in July and August caused extra algae growth in their pool.
“The bears are expected to return to their natural colour when the algae growth subsides next month. “
Although this may be the case, It is extremely likely that the form of algae control (algicide) the zoo are using in aim to prevent future algae growth is copper based, meaning that if incorrectly used light hair may go green when in contact with the water. This is a problem many blonde swimmers have, a problem usually blamed on the ‘chlorine’ or the ‘peroxide’. Here at h2ofun we supply two types of algae control substances; polyquat based and copper based.

Daisy Valdivia of New Jersey, USA woke with much surprise to find her backyard pool, filled with 1,000 gallons of water inside had been stolen. She believes the event must have occurred between 1am when her husband went to bed and 5am when she awoke to find it gone.
She’s amazed that someone could steal a pool so quickly and wanted to know ‘what the heck they did with the water.’
Valdiva told the Herald News of Passaic County that she was surprised the thief’s chose the pool to take and said: ‘We have two grills, chairs, umbrellas, they’re must easier to take!”
At h2ofun this type of 10” Intex Easy Set Swimming Pool costs only £89. The Thief should have taken the umbrellas… they’re much more useful, especially in the UK!!
